Megan Hamilton (00:00)
I'm Megan Hamilton and this ⁓ is the Embracing Enchantment Podcast Summer Edition. I hope that wherever and whenever you're listening to this episode that you are enjoying ⁓ in the Northern Hemisphere anyway, ⁓ some of the delights that summer ⁓ has to offer while also being incredibly mindful of ⁓ all of the things happening.

Megan Hamilton (00:30)
around the world ⁓ and perhaps ⁓ it might be a good time to just take a minute ⁓ if this feels good to you and do what I like to do which is just breathe in and breathe out peace.

Megan Hamilton (00:52)
And whether or not ⁓ it makes that much of a difference, ⁓ I know that what it does is it helps me stay somewhat regulated, which means I can do a better job ⁓ in fighting for the things that need to be fought. ⁓ So if you're listening to this on the day that it comes out, ⁓ I am probably swimming in a lake. ⁓ And I thought it would be fun to just do a quick

Megan Hamilton (01:18)
episode for the summer and focus on some tarot cards. So consider this ⁓ your summer tarot reading from me to you ⁓ as a thank you for being here ⁓ and some guidance. ⁓ If you haven't had a chance to listen to my most recent episode with Patrick Hallahan of My Morning Jacket, I highly encourage you to go have a listen. ⁓ I think it was one of my favorite conversations yet.

Megan Hamilton (01:47)
And I've had so many incredible guests so far.

Megan Hamilton (01:54)
All right. ⁓ This is just a free form tarot reading. We're going with the flow.

Megan Hamilton (02:08)
Alright, ⁓ 10 of wands. I used the Rider Waite Smith deck and just in case you don't know, ⁓ you can also catch all the episodes on YouTube if you're curious about what cards look like, what I look like, what my guests look like. Head on over.

Megan Hamilton (02:27)
You have been carrying a lot as we all have. Wands are in the realm of fire. We associate them with spirit to spark creativity. ⁓ And sometimes those of us who are strong ⁓ can carry a lot and we end up carrying other people's energy sometimes for them. The good news is it's a 10. So you're almost done. ⁓ The bad news is this probably shouldn't happen again. ⁓

Megan Hamilton (02:56)
So what have you been carrying? What have you picked up? What have you taken on for somebody else that isn't yours? And what is ready to be put down?

Megan Hamilton (03:08)
how can you lighten your load so that by the time you get home you can actually enjoy it.

Megan Hamilton (03:23)
And are you becoming bored or? ⁓

Megan Hamilton (03:32)
Where have you started to feel as though you need a new challenge? Perhaps you've reached a big goal or a milestone in your career, ⁓ or if you've been working on yourself, perhaps you've realized that you have come to the other side of a behavior that you wanted to change. We're looking at the King of Pentacles here. ⁓ Maybe it's time to reflect on the abundance that already exists in your life. If you took my magic of aliveness,

Megan Hamilton (04:02)
course and you still can by the way it's it's now a ⁓ self-study course ⁓ on my website ubuskills.com ⁓ I didn't mean to plug that but there we go. ⁓ Where is it time to stop and reflect ⁓ on the goals that you've already reached? Where were you last year at this time? Where were you five years ago at this time? ⁓ As of recording I just realized I've been five years self-employed.

Megan Hamilton (04:31)
after leaving my job job. ⁓ And sometimes we just feel like we're constantly, you know, moving towards a new target. And when we stop and actually reflect on what has changed what we have accomplished where we are abundant already, that can help shift things ⁓ and ⁓ re center us away from, you know, ⁓ that feeling, know, when you're, you know, when you were younger and you looked at adults and you thought, okay, well,

Megan Hamilton (04:59)
by the time I get there, I'm going to have it all together. And then you're adult and you never feel like you have it together. ⁓ But if you look at ⁓ what you've actually done, you're definitely more together than you were, let's say in your mid 20s.

Megan Hamilton (05:20)
Six of Pentacles.

Megan Hamilton (05:24)
Most of us find it easier to give than to receive, ⁓ but most of us could probably use some help in some areas. ⁓ Most of us would prefer to be the person who has extra and be able to share that with the people who don't. But we would say we're all the same. It doesn't matter if I'm over here ⁓ and you're over there. We're all

Megan Hamilton (05:53)
equal and worthy of love, gentleness, safety, kindness. But if given the choice, you're going to want to be the person who's able to give rather than the person who

Megan Hamilton (06:13)
I wouldn't say is forced to, but ⁓ is in ⁓ a ⁓ more position of need. ⁓ so ⁓ reflect on where you have stopped yourself from being able to receive. ⁓ And it's not just money, it's ⁓ love, it's ⁓ help, it's, ⁓ you know, asking for somebody's ear, ⁓ it's...

Megan Hamilton (06:43)
recognizing when you're struggling.

Megan Hamilton (06:48)
Where in your life do you need to cultivate your ability to receive to the same depth that you give? I should have said at the beginning actually, and if you want to pause this right now and go and grab a journal, I ask a lot of questions in my tarot readings, but you can always go back and follow along and write down whatever comes up for you. And if you don't have my shadow work workbook,

Megan Hamilton (07:16)
It's free and it's also on my website www.ubuskills.com slash tools. ⁓ And I got great shadow work questions in there if you want to be working through some stuff.

Megan Hamilton (07:30)
All right, ⁓ it's time for a new perspective. ⁓ It's time to recognize outdated ways of doing things. It's time to recognize where you've been encultured ⁓ in systems that don't work for you anymore, ⁓ that probably never worked for you, ⁓ that probably don't work for the majority of people except a few. Where do you need to ⁓ flip the switch ⁓ on ways that you have been

Megan Hamilton (08:00)
navigating.

Megan Hamilton (08:04)
situations.

Megan Hamilton (08:08)
Where do you recognize that you exhibit certain behaviors and it's time to change them? And how can we do that? We have to look at things from a different angle, look at things from a different perspective. ⁓ Sometimes that could mean ⁓ if you look at something ⁓ as negative, ⁓ what could be the potential positive elements of the thing that you're looking at? So for example,

Megan Hamilton (08:36)
I remember a few years ago, I got like what felt like the third flat tire in probably six months. And it was so frustrating. ⁓ But I remember thinking to myself, I'm actually really grateful because it's not even a second thought about this flat tire. I have more than enough resources to be able to get it fixed without any detriment to me at all. ⁓ And is it a bit of a pain in the butt? Yes.

Megan Hamilton (09:06)
I can fix it easily and for that I took a moment in time to recognize where I'd come to and felt really grateful for that. So where can you do that? Because that energy also changes, ⁓ you know, we can't change what happens to us but we can change how we approach it.

Megan Hamilton (09:28)
And where can you, I like to say, where can you see yourself as the hero in the journey and what would hero version of you do?

Megan Hamilton (09:55)
You are ready to strategize.

Megan Hamilton (10:02)
through excellent communication, clear communication. ⁓ Notice where you are feeling a lot of clarity and where can you communicate that? Going back to our needs, ⁓ right? The six of pentacles, here we've got the queen of swords. Where can you clearly communicate what you need? Be explicit about it. Part of the reason it's hard to do that is because we don't actually often take the time to think about what we want, where we're at.

Megan Hamilton (10:32)
where we want to get to. We don't have time. We've got lots of different things ⁓ tugging for our attention. It's summer. The routines are off. You'll probably ⁓ notice a plethora of different sounds on the podcast today as ⁓ everyone's home. ⁓ And ⁓

Megan Hamilton (10:52)
In terms of strategy for moving forward for thinking about what you want. We want to be ⁓ clear, ⁓ sharp, precise, ⁓ because that is how we move through to the transformation. So you'll notice the moon cycles on her throne as well as the butterfly. And she also has cut ropes on her wrists.

Megan Hamilton (11:21)
she's created a freedom for herself. And where can you create that freedom for yourself as well?

Megan Hamilton (11:30)
And like I said, it's a short little episode today.

Megan Hamilton (11:35)
We're going to pull one more card and then the bottom card is going to be the shadow work. Okay.

Megan Hamilton (11:42)
⁓ Hear for it, it's justice.

Megan Hamilton (11:49)
Where can you in your own way within the energy that works for you within your nervous system, where can you work towards the world you want to live in? What choices can you make? What behaviors can you develop? What systems that don't work can you cut away from your life?

Megan Hamilton (12:17)
And where can you balance the scales towards an equitable, fair, peaceful world?

Megan Hamilton (12:30)
What small changes can you make? It doesn't have to be grandiose, but that mindset shift. And you know, I hate that phrase as much as you probably do. I'm tired of it. ⁓ I've been in the coaching industry now for a few years. And if I hear one ⁓ person say that you just need to switch your mindset, ⁓ it's not true. You must take action, but you need to know what actions to take. And in terms of balance and justice and fairness,

Megan Hamilton (13:01)
for other people, but also for yourself, you know, where have things not been fair for you? And how can you balance the skills yourself? ⁓ Or how can you ask for what you need with clarity, with a switch of perspective, with putting down all that you've been carrying, and with recognizing ⁓ where you're at currently.

Megan Hamilton (13:29)
and the abundance that exists that maybe didn't exist before. And in terms of your shadow, ⁓ three of swords. ⁓ Listen, here's what this card tells me.

Megan Hamilton (13:44)
Love, if you listen to the episode with Pam Grossman, you know, we pulled this card and if you didn't, my goodness, it's such a good one. She is incredible. But life is not just about wonderful, you know, ⁓ joy and happiness all the time. The full spectrum of being a human being includes pain and discomfort and heartbreak and grief ⁓ and

Megan Hamilton (14:13)
Lord knows there are a lot of things to be grieving right now. There are people who are suffering pretty, pretty, pretty bad. ⁓ And if you have denied yourself from grieving that, grieving that this is the world we still exist in, grieving that people are suffering, maybe you're suffering.

Megan Hamilton (14:36)
It is incredibly important to feel your feelings. We don't want to get overwhelmed by them, but we also want to allow ourselves to feel things. And so where do you need to have a cry? And actually, ⁓ speaking of, ⁓ I have, you could probably Google it. I have ⁓ a ⁓ blog post called ⁓ Music. ⁓ What's it about?

Megan Hamilton (15:04)
Anyways, I can't think of it right now, but basically it's a crying playlist ⁓ because sometimes I would find especially during lockdowns that I was holding in my emotions and I needed to release them. And so ⁓ for whatever reason I couldn't in the moment, but I would put on the crying playlist and let myself cry. ⁓ Where can you do that too? Where do you need to feel the full spectrum of human feelings right now? If you have been denying yourself that ⁓ much needed option.

Megan Hamilton (15:35)
You can find all of the takeaways ⁓ and links and everything else in the show notes. Please make sure that you're following us. ⁓ Please leave ⁓ a nice comment. If you enjoy this podcast, it really helps ⁓ consider sharing ⁓ the reels that I put out to let people know to follow ⁓ and you're going to want to keep tuning in because our next episode is about whether or not evil

Megan Hamilton (16:04)
spirits exist. ⁓ I hope you're enjoying your summer so far. I hope you have some outside time in nature like I am likely doing at the moment ⁓ and until next time here's to building an enchanted life.
