Megan Hamilton (00:00.000)
I'm Megan Hamilton and this is the Embracing Enchantment Podcast. Today we are going to talk with a magical human I learned about years ago from my friend Amanda May. I've taken several of her magical courses and caught multiple live tarot readings on Instagram and with her Magic Woman radio podcast, she is the real deal. She has been reading, teaching and

creating courses about tarot and the stars since 2016, please welcome our very special guest, Kate Fowley. Welcome, Kate.

Kait Fowlie (01:00.607)
Hello, thank you so much for having me on.

Megan Hamilton (01:03.943)
I'm so excited to be here talking to you because as I mentioned, I've had feels like I've had multiple tarot readings from you and I've taken your courses and I've just been a long admirer of your work and how you integrate magical practice into your life.

Kait Fowlie (01:23.438)
thank you so much for that. Yeah, we've been connected for a long time and I'm so glad that we have.

Megan Hamilton (01:30.083)
Me too. Okay. So as is the case with every episode of embracing enchantment, I'm going to be shuffling the cards and I'm going to pull a card that's going to set a tone, give us just something to think about. And while I'm shuffling, I wonder if you can tell us how and when you started to work with tarot and astrology. So like what's your origin story?

Kait Fowlie (01:46.025)
Mm-hmm.

Kait Fowlie (01:55.649)
Yeah. So I didn't really get into this work, Tarot and Astrology, until like later in my life. I think I was probably 28 when I started reading Tarot and reading it pretty seriously. And then quickly after that, Tarot led to astrology and I just like fell fully down the rabbit hole of the magical tools and

Yeah, tarot and astrology have always kind of been like my core modalities, but I started getting into it because I've always been interested in creative writing. I went to school for creative writing. so tarot is just such a beautiful tool for like narrativizing our life, you know? And so I started working at just out of curiosity. And then I just, it just became such a fast friend of mine that I was like, I'm obsessed with this and I need to like dedicate my entire life to it.

Megan Hamilton (02:37.896)
Absolutely.

Kait Fowlie (02:49.653)
I kinda never looked back.

Megan Hamilton (02:51.75)
Isn't it wild how that happens for folks? Like as soon as you start, as soon as it starts to click, you just kind of go, whoa. And you see all of the ways that this can work in your life and the magic that comes from it. Yeah. And it seems to be its own little portal into lots of other modalities, right? Yeah. Yeah. Okay. I am going to pull a card for us and let's see.

Kait Fowlie (02:58.093)
different.

Kait Fowlie (03:04.97)
Yes.

Kait Fowlie (03:13.387)
Yes, for sure, for sure.

Megan Hamilton (03:21.394)
what wants to come up.

How do we need to know?

Megan Hamilton (03:32.457)
Page of Wands. I love it. It feels very fitting actually for this kind of we're entering what some of us feel like is a new year, fresh energy kind of our season. The fall brings, you know, the coolness that takes away gives us a bit more focus and clarity after the summer that we've had, especially all of the heat around here. Wands are in the realm of fire.

Kait Fowlie (03:34.029)
Woo!

Kait Fowlie (03:47.328)
you

Kait Fowlie (04:01.321)
Okay.

Megan Hamilton (04:01.574)
And we think of them in terms of growth, spirit, energy, passion. And with the page, you know, the page is the hardest working card of the suits. And we have the page with a tunic full of salamanders. Of course, if you're listening, I'm reading once again from the Rider Waite Smith deck. And so it's the time to start a bunch of new projects.

And you also might feel that renewed energy of getting back to work, getting excited about projects. The summer is so you kind of have to go with the flow, right? There's beach times and swimming and vacations and ice cream. And September brings with it that back to school feeling that entering the back half of the year, getting back to business, starting a bunch of things and somehow having the energy to get it all going.

It just feels very aligned to me. And sometimes with Tara, when I'm reading it, it's just like, yep, it's not, there's nothing mind shattering or, you know, anything that's going to be a complete surprise. It's just kind of letting us know. Yeah, this is the vibe right now. But Kate, I'm wondering if you can add any insight to this.

Kait Fowlie (05:06.348)
.

Kait Fowlie (05:10.518)
Yeah.

Kait Fowlie (05:16.044)
I just love what you shared about this card. Such a lovely, creative spark plug of a card, right? And I feel like this page heading into Virgo season, like this is not the best time of the year. It's the best time of the year, the time to...

Megan Hamilton (05:24.85)
Thank you.

Megan Hamilton (05:31.207)
Yeah.

Megan Hamilton (05:38.642)
same.

Kait Fowlie (05:43.638)
get excited about the new projects that we're starting and what we can learn. And it feels like every year, September kind of is, I always say that it's like what January wants to be. It feels like it's like the start of a new journey, a new learning journey, a new journey to like, what can I create? And just kind of like looking up at the little buds, the little seeds that are growing in our life and envisioning what they can become. So.

I'm really looking forward to this Virgo season, but on the other side of this last eclipse, which we were just talking about before we jumped on this all, fire energy. These last few days have taught me a lot about like burnout and what it means to use my energy like effectively and, you know, channel it effectively. And so a lot of a lot of fire energy happening in my life right now. But I'm excited about Virgo season.

Megan Hamilton (06:20.429)
my god.

Megan Hamilton (06:29.128)
Megan Hamilton (06:39.88)
Me too. Yeah, I'm definitely feeling that pull too. After this, you know, and I don't know about you and I know we're still in eclipse season and I know that even like beyond this it's still part of this like bigger picture that's coming up in 2026 with the April eclipse season, which I'm just like, my God, Kate and I before we came on today. We're talking about

Kait Fowlie (06:42.037)
for sure. Yeah.

Kait Fowlie (06:59.978)
Yeah.

Megan Hamilton (07:09.544)
how this full moon in Pisces, the eclipse that happened over the weekend is has been the most wonky bonkers, huge full moon energy that either of us have felt in a very long time. And I really do seem to be noticing that across the board in terms of, you know, like what people are seeing on the internet. I know that my algorithm is obviously tuned to a certain

Kait Fowlie (07:20.383)
. .

Megan Hamilton (07:38.586)
certain point. However, I don't recall ever seeing as many people just absolutely fried from this full moon.

Kait Fowlie (07:46.539)
a thousand percent. It's it was like a literal tidal wave of Pisces energy, just like taking people out left, right and center, like exhaustion, burnout, unexpected plans getting thrown off, very retrograde energy. it really kind of like drug us, dragged us to the depths a little bit.

Megan Hamilton (08:11.143)
Yes.

Kait Fowlie (08:16.682)
And that's how we're starting this eclipse season. So who knows what this next two weeks has in store.

Megan Hamilton (08:25.122)
my God, brace yourselves everybody. Yeah, I mean, I know in the long run, the stuff that came up, I mean, we're talking like a sudden sobs in the shower, the painful kind of body frozen, like tears flowing, can't speak your throat hurts kind of sobs. And I would like to say that it was just once in the shower, but it's not, it's been all over the place necessary, right?

Kait Fowlie (08:37.129)
Yeah.

Kait Fowlie (08:45.49)
one.

Kait Fowlie (08:52.826)
yup.

Megan Hamilton (08:53.532)
whenever we cry, it's got to come out. Huge, huge downloads, huge understandings of myself that just stop me in my tracks kind of unexpectedly, you know, like listening to the podcast this morning with Amy Poehler on my elliptical machine. And all of a sudden I'm like,

Kait Fowlie (08:56.283)
Yes.

Kait Fowlie (09:09.429)
Wow.

Megan Hamilton (09:22.472)
just absolutely floored by information and downloads. so I partly can't help but think it's kind of getting us ready for something. And I'm really hoping that that something is a huge shift and change towards a different positive direction and letting go of the stuff that sometimes we don't want to do it on our own.

Kait Fowlie (09:25.434)
Yeah.

Kait Fowlie (09:48.726)
Yes. Yes. Yeah.

Megan Hamilton (09:49.757)
We know it's there, but we're like, I don't want to touch that. And then either the tower or the full moon eclipse comes in and it's like, well, I'm going to make you because I want you to be on the other side of this. Right. But God damn.

Kait Fowlie (10:04.134)
Yes, so true. Yeah, like on one hand, Pisces energy brings like deep emotions and like, you know, sobbing and grief. It's also about like the afterlife, right, and transcendence, but also about like our dreams and visions and what we really truly want for like the big picture of our life. So I feel like

this eclipse season on the Pisces and Virgo axis. Like it's about taking out the unnecessary, what's not needed, any filler, any fluff in our day that's not adding up to like the big picture of what we want for our life, which like sometimes like these are the signs of healing, right? Like Pisces is about like spiritual, the emotional realm, and then Virgo is about like the here and now intangible realm. So it's all about coming into alignment with like

Megan Hamilton (10:48.37)
Mm-hmm.

Kait Fowlie (10:59.772)
where we want to be at the end of the day. And I think, yeah, a lot can change over these next two weeks.

Megan Hamilton (11:04.36)
Yeah, yes, yes. And I'm here for it. I live with the Virgo and a Pisces and I also completely rebranded my business on Monday on purpose. But you know, you know how you just like no, this will be a good time to do it. And then you're like, Oh my God, what have I done?

Kait Fowlie (11:19.209)
Yes. Yes. Good for you.

Megan Hamilton (11:25.254)
thank you. Yeah. Yeah. And I didn't I actually wasn't expecting all the grief that was going to come up from it either. But that is that that's how we do sometimes, you know.

Kait Fowlie (11:31.528)
Wow.

Kait Fowlie (11:35.686)
Yes. Yeah. Eclipse season asks us to do big things, right?

Megan Hamilton (11:41.041)
Yeah. And I knew it was coming and I know I love the tower. I mean, I love slash hate it. I knew I had to get on to I was getting the tower a lot. I knew I had to like get on top of it before it got on top of me. Yeah. OK. OK. OK. I'm getting way ahead of myself here. So we are living during incredibly difficult times. Can we both agree on that?

Kait Fowlie (11:55.72)
morning.

Kait Fowlie (12:06.162)
Yeah. Yes. Yes.

Megan Hamilton (12:09.138)
And the purpose of this podcast is to learn new modalities of spirituality to stay hopeful with the principle being that hopefulness keeps us driving forward toward change. And I'm wondering if you as somebody who does have an arsenal of modalities that you practice, can you tell us some of the practices that you use in your everyday life to stay grounded or hopeful or both in these days?

Kait Fowlie (12:25.735)
Okay.

Kait Fowlie (12:37.697)
Mm-hmm. Mm. Yeah. So I am a Virgo moon. So rituals are a big part of my life and how I get grounded and stay grounded each day. I'm a huge morning and evening routine person.

And that doesn't mean that I'm doing like elaborate ceremonial rituals like in the morning. I'm a very like simple, simple, simple is best kind of person when it comes to rituals, but they're definitely a big part of my day. And I've probably been doing morning pages like Julia Cameron's morning pages from the artist's way for like, man, probably like almost half of my life at this point. Like it's such a big part of me.

Megan Hamilton (13:03.698)
Yeah.

Megan Hamilton (13:17.96)
Wow.

Megan Hamilton (13:26.376)
That's amazing. Yeah.

Kait Fowlie (13:27.58)
Like connecting with the written word and connecting with like the page in the morning, that's how to get my day on a solid trajectory. it's always like, journaling has always been something that really works for me. Huge.

Megan Hamilton (13:42.259)
Same. I love to do. I've got my morning ritual with journaling and I pull cards and I bring in my ancestors and you know, it has become a little bit ridiculously elaborate. I had to actually like take out some pieces. I always add to stuff and then I'm like, okay, I actually don't have time for a two hour and 45 minute ritual every morning. Like that's just not I know when that my God, literally I would if I could.

Kait Fowlie (13:58.311)
Yeah.

Kait Fowlie (14:06.351)
I wish. I wish.

Megan Hamilton (14:11.016)
Uh, so I just, have to take it back every once in a while, but it's funny that you mentioned morning pages because it just reminds me of our card, right? And just the, uh, the idea of, of the page being the beginning and the start and the morning pages kind of getting you prepared for the energy that you want to have in the day. Okay.

Kait Fowlie (14:17.424)
Yeah.

Yes! Yes!

Kait Fowlie (14:28.902)
Thank you.

Kait Fowlie (14:33.966)
Yeah. Yeah.

Megan Hamilton (14:38.928)
And I know that you like to have somebody's birth chart when you offer your tarot readings. Can you explain how astrology, so imagine that the folks listening, some of them will be absolutely knowledgeable on all things tarot and astrology. And some folks are going to be really new and trying to figure out different ways of looking at things. Could you help us understand how astrology can deepen a tarot reading and how you integrate the two?

Kait Fowlie (15:07.559)
Great question. So for me, tarot and astrology have always kind of go went hand in hand. They certainly don't need to be. You can have a deep, rich, nourishing tarot practice and not work at all with astrology and vice versa, right? But they can really lend themselves together, I find. And I like to get someone's birth chart before I do a reading because I think about the birth chart and what's happening.

to us, like on an astrological level, as kind of like the weather of each season of our life. And so when I look at the birth chart and I can get a sense of kind of like what this season of your life is kind of all about based on like the transits and how things are activating for you and what's kind of playing out astrologically for you can kind of give me a little bit of grounding through which I can interpret the tarot cards, which I think about as sort of like more actionable guidance, if you like.

Megan Hamilton (16:07.368)
Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm.

Kait Fowlie (16:07.514)
So if I look at the birth chart as sort of more of like, is like what's up right now for you. Like you can't, you know. The terror is sort of just like, here's some tools, here's some resources. Like take this before you venture out into the storm or take this before you venture out into the sun. Like yeah, they go hand in hand in that way.

Megan Hamilton (16:16.622)
Yeah.

Megan Hamilton (16:32.316)
Yeah, I love that. It's as somebody who even until recently, I mean, I've always been interested in horoscopes. I've you I know I knew my son sign certainly because I think most people do but the rest of it just it really had a hard time sticking and it wasn't until the last couple of years and I don't really know what it was because I often think of

Kait Fowlie (16:53.839)
No.

Megan Hamilton (16:59.752)
sort of like mental translations. so tarot has always been the tool that spoke to me the most clearly and I've been developing my relationship with it for 20. I keep saying different numbers when I say this, let's say 26 years, but it's probably more. And then once I started to understand how much overlap

Kait Fowlie (17:15.782)
Yeah, I know, same, same.

Megan Hamilton (17:30.46)
the different systems, especially the esoteric and the sort of occult knowledge systems, how much overlap there is within the systems and the things that we focus on and, you know, even just the four directions and the four suits and then incorporate all the other pieces. Once I started to have that sort of translation key, I guess it is, things started to open up. And so

Kait Fowlie (17:45.013)
Yeah.

Megan Hamilton (17:59.803)
as somebody coming from a learning perspective, and I'm still really trying to understand astrology a little bit better. Having that little bit of clicking and then looking at tarot, it really it adds another level to it. And it kind of reminds me of, you know,

Kait Fowlie (18:07.621)
Mm hmm. Mm hmm.

Megan Hamilton (18:26.266)
human design, which seems to have taken everything even a little bit further. and I'm still, I'm just, I, know, we've had Ilona Pamplona on the podcast here and I I'm still just like, just tell me, tell me, tell me, tell me the things. Cause I go into there and I'm like, I, I cannot, my brain just goes, Nope, not going to learn any of it. It's interesting. But it, it, it,

Kait Fowlie (18:35.428)
Yeah. Wow. So funny. Yeah. Yeah.

Megan Hamilton (18:56.752)
What strikes me is, and this is probably too big of a topic to get into today, but just the universality of all of the different systems and what draws us to certain systems, why certain ones click in our brains, why certain modalities feel more aligned than others. And certainly there's closed practices, obviously, that are not meant for everybody, but

Kait Fowlie (19:08.398)
Yes.

Kait Fowlie (19:18.564)
Yeah.

Megan Hamilton (19:24.774)
The ones that were drawn to and the difference that they can make in our lives are astonishing.

Kait Fowlie (19:33.425)
Totally, totally. And we go through seasons too, right? Like sometimes I'll go through seasons where I don't touch my cards at all. And then other times where I'm doing like as part of my morning ritual, as a part of my evening ritual. But yeah, it's nice to have a little bouquet that works for you. A bouquet of notary.

Megan Hamilton (19:37.585)
Yeah.

Megan Hamilton (19:52.339)
I love that a little bouquet of modalities like a a cornucopia of helpfulness. yeah, I love that. I love that. I love that. Who is somebody you've learned the most from in your work?

Kait Fowlie (19:58.371)
A cornucopia of hopefulness, abundance.

Kait Fowlie (20:13.346)
Ooh, that's such a good question. Well, yeah, like what you were saying before, really, it's so true that like you really need to find someone who speaks your language when it comes to these tools to really help it like click in a way, because something can be totally mystifying and be like, you just don't retain anything. And then you hear someone else talk about it in a way that like makes sense to you. And you're like, my God, this makes sense. The lights go on. So yeah.

Megan Hamilton (20:26.896)
Uh-huh.

Megan Hamilton (20:41.234)
Yes.

Kait Fowlie (20:42.047)
some expanders on my path have been like, just so keen. I was actually telling a client the other day, like, there's been like YouTube videos and like just pieces of free content that I've consumed along my path that have like changed my life. And they're like so valuable for me. And so I was like, we were talking about just like valuing our work and being also like discerning about how much free stuff we're giving away. And also like it is so valuable. can be life changing. So.

Megan Hamilton (20:59.368)
Mm-hmm.

Megan Hamilton (21:08.348)
Mm-hmm.

Kait Fowlie (21:11.084)
Yeah, key people on my path that I cherish. And some of them are Kelly Ann Maddox. She's a tarot reader on YouTube. She's been so key for me. was really like, the door kind of opened when I discovered her. And also the tarot lady, Theresa Reed, is also one that I love. Yeah.

Megan Hamilton (21:34.492)
Yeah, I really love her too. Yeah.

Kait Fowlie (21:38.069)
Yeah, Aliza Kelly, another astrologer that I just adore, and all of these people kind of unite tarot and astrology in a way that just feels like intuitive to me and like inspires me and just always kind of makes me think.

Megan Hamilton (21:52.379)
I love that. Yeah, you're so right. When you not everybody and everybody's style is going to work for everybody. Right. And so when you're looking for a teacher or somebody who can read for you, I feel like it's so important, you know, to suss around and just think to yourself at the very base level. Am I going to?

Kait Fowlie (21:53.795)
Yeah.

Kait Fowlie (22:14.819)
Mm-hmm.

Megan Hamilton (22:18.664)
feel comfortable sitting in front of this person as they speak back to me. You know, the cards that they're reading is the is the tone of their reading something that works with me? Or is it a is it a way of speaking that you know, doesn't work for me? For example, like some people love a bit of tough love and some people really, really don't.

Kait Fowlie (22:23.146)
Now.

Kait Fowlie (22:30.674)
Yeah.

Kait Fowlie (22:36.408)
Yes.

Megan Hamilton (22:42.504)
Some people like a more predictive tarot reading and some people just want to sort of have a more, know, tell me what's going on inside. Let me know like what things I can look at to bring change. Yeah.

Kait Fowlie (22:46.275)
you

Kait Fowlie (22:55.075)
Yeah. Yeah. So many different approaches that you can take with tarot too, right? Like, yeah, you need a reader sometimes who's just going to like slap some sense into you. And then you need a reader sometimes who's going to like, you know, lovingly, lovingly nudge some sense into you. But there's, it's fascinating to see the directions that people can take with it. You know, like we can

Megan Hamilton (23:02.716)
yeah.

Kait Fowlie (23:25.218)
create so many different spins on the structure of the tarot. And it's so cool to see what directions people can take it in.

Megan Hamilton (23:34.505)
Absolutely. Right. Some people like to use a very specific way of looking at each card. It's the same every time. This is what this card means. And then other people sort of bring a more interpretive approach. And especially if you're adding another modality. then you're for you, for example, you're you've got the Page of Wands. But if you're also dealing with somebody who has, you know, an Aries Sun and a Sag rising.

Kait Fowlie (23:47.404)
Yeah.

Megan Hamilton (24:04.134)
like myself, then you might have another, you know, connection to this in terms of fire signs and the energies that are going up with stuff. Yeah, it is. It is. And I think that's partly what, you know, what keeps people interested is because you can keep adding to your practice. You can keep incorporating new ideas or.

Kait Fowlie (24:10.109)
Yeah. Yes.

Kait Fowlie (24:27.659)
Yeah.

Megan Hamilton (24:27.762)
you don't have to do any of that. If you want to keep it fixed and that's working for you and you just know what every card means and when it comes up, this is what we go for. That's okay too. And I think that's part of what draws me to these practices in the first place is that they are as opposed to a religion, which is very prescriptive and there's a lot of, you know, dogmatic, like nevermind the power and the other stuff, but you know, it's like,

Kait Fowlie (24:32.779)
Yeah.

Kait Fowlie (24:38.954)
Thank

Megan Hamilton (24:55.388)
like these are the rules for living. Whereas when you work towards a sort of more witchy alternative alt spirituality, occult based stuff, then you can make it your own, which can make it that much more meaningful and and frankly powerful.

Kait Fowlie (25:05.666)
Mm-hmm.

Yes. Yes. man, like ritual is not one size fits all for sure. Right? Totally. And yeah, we've been so personal, so personal, but it's always interesting. Yeah. You can take so many like bits and pieces from other people that inspire you, but at the very end of the day, it's about, it's about you like creating.

Megan Hamilton (25:23.74)
Yeah, it's so personal.

Kait Fowlie (25:39.074)
creating your own work of art with your ritual and your practice.

Megan Hamilton (25:42.417)
Hmm. Yeah. Yes. Yes. So unique and so, so positive for each person who's got their own, their own style. so I was peeking around on your website and I noticed that you have, an upcoming Samhain course. I'm wondering if you could tell us a little bit about that.

Kait Fowlie (26:01.458)
Yeah.

Kait Fowlie (26:08.193)
I do. It's my favorite time of the year. I'm in like my full Page of Wands expression every day. Let's do this. Let's do this. Let's add this to a spell. Let's add this to a ritual. Oh, such a lovely witchy time of year. I, my Samhain offerings every year that they just, they excite me so much to envision and dream up. So pretty much for the entire month of October.

Megan Hamilton (26:10.408)
It's the best time of the year.

Mm-hmm.

Kait Fowlie (26:37.154)
For the last couple of years, I've been doing like a full, like I call it my Samhain programming, and I usually offer a live program, and then I usually offer like an email course, because I love doing little email courses based on the transits and what's going on and helping people to connect with them on a more personal level, starting with the page as well. That's always been a big part of my work. But I also am gonna do like...

three little one-off rituals. I have a coracopia of things happening in October. But yeah, really the main kind of thing would be my season of the witch program. And basically it's just like a four week meeting session where we meet every week and kind of dive into one particular like symbol of the Samhain season. That might be ghost, it might be witch, it might be.

Megan Hamilton (27:07.9)
Hehehehehe

Kait Fowlie (27:32.125)
afterlife and kind of use that as like the core of our like teaching and exploration for the week. But we'll see what happens. We still have a bit of time for me to like flesh out that idea. So I'm like, I don't probably get so many different ideas from now until then. But yeah, I'm really excited.

Megan Hamilton (27:49.639)
Mm-hmm. Yeah. So I love that you come up with new stuff all the time. You kind of just let whatever's coming to you dictate what you're going to do. that? Yeah. Yeah. The energy behind that is really is really powerful. Mm-hmm.

Kait Fowlie (28:00.224)
Totally. Oh yeah. Yeah.

Kait Fowlie (28:06.688)
Yeah, it's always pretty on the fly. Like if I get a good idea, I'm gonna like take action on it and I don't wanna feel like restricted in any way. That's why I love being a witch. That's why love being a business owner. That's why I love being a witch. Because yeah, you can be a business rebel.

Megan Hamilton (28:28.248)
I 100 % agree with you. It is and that's and that's what I was hinting at earlier to this idea of, okay, I don't really like this part of this. I mean, and again, you know, I think it's worth saying because this is really important. Not every practice is for everybody and you know, you have to be careful and really do your research and understand.

Kait Fowlie (28:44.437)
Yeah. Yeah.

Megan Hamilton (28:55.238)
what's cool and what's not cool and why it's not cool to, you know, to incorporate certain, practices into your, into your cornucopia. But I just love that you can take it and make it your own because that's how I've always wanted to do things. I've, I've always felt restricted by other people's rules. I've always felt frustrated by,

Kait Fowlie (29:06.336)
Yes.

Kait Fowlie (29:18.704)
Yeah.

Megan Hamilton (29:23.736)
stuff that may not make sense to me and why do I have to do it just because you tell me to like and that's I know I understand that there's there's a bit of an immaturity with that kind of energy but at the same time I'm like well you know what I'm 51 so that's not changing yet and I'm just gonna go with this is how I operate and it keeps and I also think there's something to that in terms of being a witch or being a spiritual practitioner

Kait Fowlie (29:28.749)
Yeah.

Kait Fowlie (29:37.952)
Yeah.

Megan Hamilton (29:53.672)
that helps you come into your own.

Kait Fowlie (29:56.46)
Yeah.

Megan Hamilton (29:57.437)
and gives you the confidence to do the kind of work that you do.

Kait Fowlie (30:00.76)
Yes, yes. it's huge. It's huge. My practices are a huge part of what allows me to feel like myself, you know? I couldn't feel like myself without it. For sure.

Megan Hamilton (30:05.319)
Yeah.

Megan Hamilton (30:14.312)
Hmm?

Megan Hamilton (30:20.52)
Yeah, it's, I don't know. Do you ever find this if you're outside of your sort of regular routine, like sometimes you go away or sometimes things get disrupted for a little while and I don't always have access to my same kind of morning intentional coming into myself moments. And I, I, I do feel, I have that sigh of like, Oh, I'm back whenever I get back to, you know, my desk and my altar.

Kait Fowlie (30:48.915)
my gosh, yeah. I always say that like my morning routine is like the reason that I'm not having an existential crisis by 2pm every day. Like, it's huge. It's huge. I feel it's like a protective thing for me, you know, to like ground into intention every day. It feels like that's that's my protection. You know, it's that's where it stems from.

Megan Hamilton (31:13.768)
Totally. And I love that it is the act of keeping intentional in a world that is growing increasingly unintentional, right? We are sucked in by our phones. We are sucked in by algorithms. We are sucked in by the news. And, you know, there's so many things that want to take our attention. And then sometimes for me, I would just find myself. I remember thinking to myself,

Kait Fowlie (31:26.131)
Yes.

Kait Fowlie (31:32.294)
Yeah.

Kait Fowlie (31:37.16)
Bye.

Kait Fowlie (31:40.926)
Thank

Megan Hamilton (31:44.045)
Um, okay, this is a few years ago. Uh, all right. Well, what do I want to manifest in my life? And I was like, I have no idea because I am so far away from myself right now that I don't know what I want. And that was that, that, that made me have the decision to start working with the moon cycles simply as what do I want to let go of right now? Forced me to think about my life and the context of where I was. And then

Kait Fowlie (31:46.906)
and

Kait Fowlie (31:55.863)
Yes. Yes.

Megan Hamilton (32:12.744)
What do I want to bring into my life? It's that simple. And then all the other stuff started like gravity getting pulled in. And then you just feel like more alive.

Kait Fowlie (32:15.268)
Yeah.

Kait Fowlie (32:27.562)
it's so true. You feel more alive. Like we truly live in a world that tries to it makes us feel like it's never enough. I can never share enough on Instagram. I can never have enough followers, like never have enough money. It's like never enough, never enough. But when I return to like my Earth based practices that I remember and nature, it's like there's abundance everywhere. And it's also like simple, you know.

Megan Hamilton (32:55.132)
Yeah. Yeah.

Kait Fowlie (32:56.23)
Yeah, simple abundance. That's, yeah, something.

Megan Hamilton (32:59.56)
exactly exactly what it is and it's it's funny you mentioned Instagram because with this rebrand I went to my Instagram account and deleted 1700 posts

Kait Fowlie (33:16.316)
Wow.

Megan Hamilton (33:17.448)
Right. I don't know if you've ever gone back to look at how much stuff you've posted and it goes back to, I don't know when I started at 2018, I guess. And just the, just the, the sheer volume and the thinking of the hours and the, um, and the memories and, the grief that I wasn't expecting, right. Just the like, wow, exactly. Um,

Kait Fowlie (33:36.159)
Yes.

Kait Fowlie (33:42.513)
What the hell?

Megan Hamilton (33:48.531)
But then the and you know with tarot there's so much of that. And so we were talking just now about moon cycles and like releasing and bringing in the new like you have to get rid of the shit in order for the other shit to have space to come into. And so even though I knew even though there was grief involved even though this was a choice I was making even though I was getting rid of this stuff there's still a grieving process that happens from

Kait Fowlie (33:59.207)
Yes.

Kait Fowlie (34:04.691)
Yallah!

Kait Fowlie (34:18.247)
Yes.

Megan Hamilton (34:18.492)
you know, like an eight of cups moment where you're like, I'm not leaving behind a terrible situation. I'm actually leaving behind a pretty good situation going towards what I assume, but I don't know, it's going to be a better situation, but, but we make that choice and we just have to trust, right?

Kait Fowlie (34:32.185)
Yeah.

Kait Fowlie (34:39.925)
my gosh, yes. yeah, hearing you say that sounds so, it sounds so eclipse season for one, like shedding the old and like now we're coming into the waning moon. Like, yeah, you can feel grief and you can also know that you're clearing space for the next and like the eight of cups, like.

Megan Hamilton (34:42.578)
How hard is that?

Megan Hamilton (34:50.023)
I know.

went full out this time.

Kait Fowlie (35:01.444)
I call this my eclipse card in the tarot because there's an eclipse there and like you are leaving something behind, but maybe you're even leaving it behind because a goal was fulfilled and you're moving on to the next one. But there's a season for everything, right? And that's what working with the lunar cycle and working with the wheel of the year remind us all the time. There's a season for everything and we can feel grief and also like looking forward to the next and the new kind of at the same time.

Megan Hamilton (35:05.64)
Totally.

Megan Hamilton (35:31.805)
Yeah, it's the fullness, right? It's the totality. You can't just live in the sun card all the time. It's impossible. I don't even know if I'd want to, frankly. With my Scorpio Moon, I'd much rather be in that eight of cups, probably. I'm so comfy there. One of the things I love about your work is how filled with care it is.

Kait Fowlie (35:48.521)
Yes, the darkness. We need the darkness sometimes. Yeah.

Megan Hamilton (36:00.179)
while not being falsely positive, speaking of, you know, the stuff we literally were just talking about. Can you talk a little bit about your philosophy of working with clients?

Kait Fowlie (36:14.352)
Yeah.

Megan Hamilton (36:15.176)
I thought I had more to that question, but then I realized I didn't. just, yeah.

Kait Fowlie (36:19.641)
No, that's perfect. Thank you so much for that reflection, too. Like, that's really lovely to hear. I do put a lot of care and attention into my work. And I, yeah, I always want to feel like just as a result of like creating this offer and like putting it on my website, I want to feel better as a result of doing that and feel like I have done something for me, regardless of what happens with this. So I appreciate that. My philosophy of working with clients. So I usually.

Megan Hamilton (36:25.6)
yeah, you really do. Mm-hmm.

Kait Fowlie (36:47.515)
I see people for tarot readings and I also see people for birth chart readings and I incorporate both. But sometimes a session will involve very little tarot and very little astrology and it will just be whatever it needs to be. But I aim to be really present for each session and know that it is truly in itself a unique expression. We're gonna meet and be here.

And whatever needs to happen in that moment will happen. And tarot and astrology can be a structure for carrying a conversation forward. But at the very end of day, the medicine is in your ability to be present and connect on a human level. And it's just about exploring together and kind of seeing what we can create in terms of what you want with your life.

what you don't want. It's an opportunity, I think, to just have a really like potentially intimate conversation with someone where you're creating a lot, creating new visions, leaving a lot behind and wrapping your head around certain things that you don't often, you know, we don't often get a chance to talk about like huge topics and themes that I'm blessed to be able to talk about in the context of a tarot reading or an astrology reading. Like you can kind of go right there.

Like, you know, you can go right there.

Megan Hamilton (38:15.772)
Yeah. Yeah. I find that it's intentional as well, right? It's putting time in your calendar to take a look at where you're at in your life, whether you do it yourself or whether you have somebody else do it for you. Cause again, otherwise you could spend that hour scrolling on your phone and you wouldn't even notice it. Or you can get intentional and have somebody else reflect things back to you that are going to work with your brain and help you, you know, ultimately understand yourself better.

Kait Fowlie (38:26.98)
Yes.

Megan Hamilton (38:44.016)
And I'm wondering if you've noticed, cause I have definitely noticed this in readings. Folks are really needing to talk lately. They need to get stuff out. am, I am really noticing that I need to book extra time on either end because I'm just noticing that people are needing to get stuff out. Have you noticed that?

Kait Fowlie (38:44.206)
Yeah.

Kait Fowlie (38:49.644)
Yes.

Kait Fowlie (38:58.199)
We'll be back.

Kait Fowlie (39:05.572)
Wow.

Kait Fowlie (39:11.598)
Wow. So interesting. Yes. And I have felt that about myself too. Like, talking out loud to the universe, talking to my cat, talking to myself in the mirror. that's, it's so grounding. We need to talk because it's like grounding. And that kind of makes me think about the Pisces and Virgo axis. Like Pisces is like,

Megan Hamilton (39:19.069)
like you've been talking more. Yeah.

Yeah.

Megan Hamilton (39:32.944)
yeah.

Kait Fowlie (39:38.23)
Neptune-esque and big knowings and intuitive like, like truths and then Virgo was like words and data. And so it's like, we're kind of learning how to like consolidate huge ideas. And we like, we create reality when we talk and when we write as well. Right? Yeah. Yeah.

Megan Hamilton (39:55.917)
Yes, you're speaking it into existence. Mm hmm. Yep. And what did Alona say? Spelling, right? The idea of words and a spell. And, know, in my other life, I'm a speaking coach. And so I've been really leaning into the idea of thinking of our speeches as spells. And what are the

Kait Fowlie (40:13.988)
Let's go.

Megan Hamilton (40:19.772)
What's the crossover there? What are we trying to do? What can we do? And what are the right words in order to evoke the or summon what we're trying to bring into the world, right? Yeah, yeah, it's it's it's feeling it's feeling pretty good. Okay, so I have so enjoyed talking to you and learning about all the different things that you get up to and

Kait Fowlie (40:24.058)
before.

Kait Fowlie (40:31.162)
Magic. I would love that.

Megan Hamilton (40:49.192)
how you are embodying your work through even just living. And in terms of your work, what is a great starter course that you offer that help folks dive in to looking at their world a little bit differently?

Kait Fowlie (40:54.489)
that's such a good question. The first thing that came to mind was a course that I ran last year and intend to run again very soon. It's called Astrology for Yourself and it's all about looking at your birth chart and

just kind of like intuitively building a relationship with it. I loved creating this course. sort of was my first stab at like my own astrological like language and how I want to be a teacher of just like straight up astrology. So astrology for yourself is like my kind of my baby. It's going to have a Renaissance very soon, but

I only ran it last year and it's still 1000 % golden. So I would recommend if you feel called to dive a little bit more deep into your birth chart and my approach and what I say happens to resonate with you, then you definitely get a lot out of this course.

Megan Hamilton (42:06.152)
I think there's such a need for that as we, as I'm sure you've noticed, and I've noticed, especially over the last few years, there's a definitely a call. People are feeling a call towards this kind of work and, and exploring what's out there and feeling empowered by it in systems that otherwise feel pretty unempowering and need to be broken. And, know, sometimes you get your birth chart and you just look at it, you're like,

What is this? Like, what am I supposed to do with this? Cause it's, it's kind of like a human design chart or, what's that body graph. You're just like, this makes zero sense to me. and so yeah, you developing a course that helps you develop your own relationship to that. That is really, really cool. And I know that there's a lot of people out there that, that will could get a lot of benefit from that.

Kait Fowlie (42:37.88)
Yes.

Yeah. Yeah.

Not.

Kait Fowlie (42:55.8)
Okay.

Megan Hamilton (43:06.92)
you know what, Kate, you are just a shining star and, I'm so grateful that my friend Amanda may, put me onto you all those years ago. And I've really loved learning from you and, developing my rituals and practices, based on your work. And, thank you so much for being a guest here today.
